EffePharm has recently released the results of toxicological tests on NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide, a form of Vitamin B3), confirming its safety. NMN is crucial for human cells, as it is naturally produced in the body and is also found in many foods. It acts as a key building block for NAD+ (a coenzyme essential for combating aging and various diseases).
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is an essential molecule involved in many cellular processes. However, NAD+ levels decline with age, which is linked to age-related diseases. Our cells primarily produce NAD+ from its precursor, NMN.
This innovative study, the first of its kind, investigated the genetic toxicity of NMN using an in vivo mammalian bone marrow model. The results were encouraging, showing that even at high doses of 2,000 mg/kg body weight, oral NMN did not exhibit any signs of genetic toxicity, supporting its strong safety profile. Recent human trials have found that higher NAD+ levels can lead to various health benefits, such as improved cognitive and sensory functions, better insulin sensitivity in muscles, and increased activity in skeletal muscles.
