Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) is a well-researched NAD+ precursor that’s become popular in the world of aging and wellness. It’s often found in supplements designed to support cellular health and boost energy metabolism. UTHEVER® was the first NMN product to be tested in a human clinical trial, an important early step in understanding how it actually works in the body.
In this article, we take a closer look at the results of that trial, especially in understanding the clinical findings and implication, and explore what the findings might mean for UTHEVER® NMN’s potential to support healthy aging and NAD+ levels.
This study employed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group design to evaluate the efficacy and safety of UTHEVER®, an oral NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) supplement, in 66 middle-aged and older adults (40–65 years). Participants were randomly assigned to receive either 300 mg/day of UTHEVER® NMN or a placebo (starch) for 60 days, with assessments at baseline, 30 days, and 60 days.
Primary endpoints included serum NAD+/NADH levels, physical endurance (6-minute walk test), blood pressure, and quality of life (SF-36 questionnaire), while secondary outcomes explored insulin sensitivity (HOMA-IR index). Safety was monitored via laboratory tests and adverse event tracking. Conducted across two clinical sites in India, the trial adhered to rigorous ethical standards, ensuring blinding of participants and investigators to minimize bias and validate the anti-aging and metabolic effects of UTHEVER® NMN supplementation.

(Huang, 2022) Table 2. Comparison of changes in mean blood cellular NAD+/NADH between the groups. The UTHEVER® NMN group’s sustained NAD+ rise — peaking at 38% by day 60 — highlights a time-dependent cumulative effect, strongly suggesting extended supplementation could amplify anti-aging benefits like NAD+ level enhancement.
To evaluate the effect of UTHEVER® NMN on NAD+ levels, participants were evenly divided into two groups: one receiving 300 mg/day of UTHEVER® NMN and the other a placebo. Researchers measured serum NAD+/NADH levels at baseline, day 30, and day 60 to assess the supplement’s impact on cellular NAD+ status.
According to the published results, the UTHEVER® group showed an 11.3% increase in NAD+/NADH levels by day 30 and a 38% increase by day 60, calculated using the formula:

| UTHEVER(n=31) | Placebo(n=31) | |
| 30 days | 11.3% | 0 |
| 60 days | 38% | 14.3% |
In comparison, the placebo group showed no change at day 30 and only a 14.3% increase by day 60, likely due to a mild placebo effect. The steady upward trend in the NMN group, particularly by day 60, suggests a cumulative effect over time and provides reason to believe that longer supplementation may lead to even more pronounced changes in NAD+ levels.

(Huang, 2022) Table 3. Comparison of changes in total distance covered in (6 Minute Walk Test) between the groups. The sustained improvement over 60 days suggests UTHEVER® NMN may offer lasting benefits for endurance and mobility with longer-term use.
Physical performance in the study was assessed using the 6-minute walk test, which measures the distance a participant can walk in six minutes as an indicator of endurance. Interestingly, the placebo group showed an initial improvement in walking distance by day 30, likely reflecting a short-term placebo effect. However, when the data was visualized on a line chart, it became clear that this improvement did not continue beyond day 30.

In contrast, participants in the UTHEVER® NMN group demonstrated consistent gains in endurance at both day 30 and day 60, showing a steady upward trend. While the study period was limited to 60 days, the continued progress observed in the UTHEVER® NMN group suggests that longer-term supplementation could lead to even greater gains in physical performance. This pattern points to a potential lasting benefit of UTHEVER® NMN in supporting endurance and mobility.

TABLE 6 Comparison of changes in mean HOMA IR index between groups. Existing data show that UTHEVER® NMN does not contribute to the development of diabetes or induce insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance is a key factor in the development of type 2 diabetes. It occurs when cells in the body become less responsive to insulin, leading to higher blood glucose levels and increased strain on the pancreas. To evaluate insulin resistance, researchers often use the Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR), which is calculated using fasting insulin and glucose levels:

Higher HOMA-IR values indicate greater insulin resistance and an increased risk of metabolic syndrome. While the threshold for what constitutes a “normal” HOMA-IR varies by population, previous studies suggest that values above 2.5 are associated with a higher likelihood of metabolic disorders.
UTHEVER® NMN clinical trial, participants did not include individuals with obesity, and the average baseline HOMA-IR values were presumed to be within the normal range. Throughout the 60-day trial period, HOMA-IR levels in the UTHEVER® NMN group remained stable, suggesting that UTHEVER® NMN supplementation does not negatively impact insulin sensitivity in a healthy population.
Notably, HOMA-IR values in the placebo (starch) group showed more variability, potentially influenced by uncontrolled dietary and lifestyle factors. While the data indicate that UTHEVER® NMN does not induce insulin resistance or increase diabetes risk, further research is needed to determine whether it may offer protective or therapeutic benefits for individuals with existing metabolic challenges.

TABLE 5 | Comparison of changes in mean pulse pressure, systolic and diastolic blood pressure between the groups. There were no significant changes in key vital indicators related to blood pressure after taking UTHEVER® NMN. Indicating that UTHEVER® NMN is safe and does not have potential health risks.
The study was conducted with healthy participants, whose vital indicators, such as blood pressure, were within the normal range at baseline. When visualized on a line chart, the data showed that both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the UTHEVER® NMN and placebo groups experienced only slight fluctuations over the 60 days, all within normal physiological limits. This suggests that UTHEVER® NMN does not adversely affect blood pressure and is safe for use in healthy individuals.

To assess the real-life impact of UTHEVER® NMN on overall well-being, Huang (2022) used the SF-36, a widely recognized self-reported questionnaire that evaluates quality of life across eight dimensions: physical functioning, role limitations due to physical health, bodily pain, general health, vitality, social functioning, emotional well-being, and mental health.
Findings from the UTHEVER® NMN clinical trial showed noticeable improvements (6.5%) in participants’ quality of life after 60 days of supplementation. Positive trends were already evident by day 30 and became more pronounced by day 60, indicating that UTHEVER® NMN may contribute to enhanced overall well-being over time.
NMN is widely recognized as a safe and effective supplement for boosting NAD+ levels. However, the market contains many low-purity or counterfeit NMN products, making it essential for consumers to check supplement labels and official websites carefully. Look for products with third-party testing to ensure quality and authenticity. Most importantly, choose NMN brands supported by clinical research—UTHEVER® is one such brand with proven benefits.
Learn more about NAD+ and how it works
Along with the aging process, the NAD+ level within our body drops. The decrease in NAD+ is natural here, and it follows that there is a connection to aging side effects like cognitive decline, metabolic diseases, chronic inflammation, and decreased physical performance.
NMN supplements offer you the opportunity to enrich NAD+ levels to maintain proper internal organ function, enhance brain and metabolic health, and increase overall vitality. NAD booster review results show NMN can be one of the NAD enhancement products for aging mitigation as both health span and lifespan can be recovered in this case. This is why consumers are fond of these capsules, as an instance, making it one of the best NAD supplementation options for aging support[2].

Yes, NMN is generally considered safe. The FDA’s restriction isn’t about safety—it’s due to a classification issue over whether NMN is a supplement or a pharmaceutical drug. NMN is under investigation for therapeutic use, which has triggered regulatory hurdles in the U.S.
For those concerned about NMN scam or asking “Is NMN legit?”, it’s important to understand the ban is regulatory, not safety-related. Choosing clinically-backed products like UTHEVER® NMN helps avoid low-quality or misleading products in the market.

Not yet. In the European Union, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is still reviewing NMN under the Novel Foods regulation. However, UTHEVER® is leading the application process and has already passed the public consultation stage. With robust safety and efficacy data, UTHEVER® NMN could gain Novel Food approval as early as 2025.
One common reason is unrealistic expectations. Some users stop because they don’t see immediate results, forgetting that NMN is a long-term investment in cellular health. Others are influenced by mixed messages online, leading them to question is NMN a scam.
According to Dr. Kaszynski, Co-Founder of Stanford Solutions and member of Effepharm’s scientific advisory board:
“With NAD+ boosters review like NMN, long-term commitment is key. If you stop taking it, your NAD+ levels drop again. That’s why some people feel it isn’t working—they just didn’t give it enough time.”
When comparing NMN brands, UTHEVER consistently ranks as the best NMN brand thanks to its high purity, published clinical studies, and partnership with research institutions. If you’re looking for the NMN best brand or wondering how UTHEVER NMN stacks up in an NMN brand comparison, it’s a top-tier choice.
Still skeptical? You’re not alone. Many searches “Is NMN a scam”. While some NMN brands cut corners, UTHEVER nmn review results show a commitment to transparency and science-backed results.
